[Week 5, Saturday: Maya]

[it's late. he's already spoken to everyone else, as everyone filed out of the McDonald's for the end of the trial. there's just. . . one more person he'd like to see. if he can]

[Akira stands in the apple store, hands stuffed into his pockets, head tilted back]

[ the door to the private area opens mysteriously.....! he's free to enter where he'll find tenko sleeping and maya sitting down. ]

Some trial, huh?

[!!!! and it isn't even Monday!]

[he blinks at the open private area for a few long moments, before he slips inside to find Maya and Tenko, curled up and cozy. he smiles in. . . relief]

. . . yeah. Some trial.

[ the door closes behind him as usual. ]

And you made it, despite your best efforts not to.

[ she sounds serious but not angry. ]

[ah. . .]

Yeah. I did.

[gives a hapless shrug]

They decided to trust me after all.

Betcha never saw it coming, huh? [ last surprise plays in the bg. she sits down and pats the spot next to her, gesturing for him to do the same. ]

[ but, if he was expecting her to get angry at him or lecture him, she doesn't. instead: ]

I'm sorry about Infinity Lancelot.

[you'll never see it COOOMIIIIIIIING]

[he obliges, sitting cross-legged on the ground next to her, resting back on his hands. when she brings up Shin, he just. . . lets out a deep exhale]

I hate him with every single piece of my heart, Maya.

[that. is the truth. he can't not hate him, after what he did to Ichigo and Makoto]

But most of all, I just feel. . . [. . .] Sad.

[that his distortion was so strong that he hurt so many people in his quest for vengeance]

[ she's sitting on a couch you plebe. ] I wish he could have realized.... that he's more than just a tool for a murder.

[ that's a moot point, though. ]

[OKAY FINE HE'S SITTING ON THE COUCH THEN]

[he wants to say a lot more, to express his wish for Shin to have realized that not only was he more than a tool for murder, but that he didn't have to let his anger burn more people than just Akira. but then Maya says that, and--]

[his head snaps up, immediately alert]

[he is hoping that means what he thinks it means]

[ is this maya's optimism and wish to comfort talking him or her npcing? hmmmm. ]

You're going to do it, right? You're going to save them.

Good. Then, that's what you need to focus on.

[ offering him her hand again. ]

He went to a dark place --- he wanted to die, and hurt you and drag you down to the same dark place. Don't let him.

[FUCK. MAYA??? he feels a lump in his throat as she extends that hand, reminds him not to give in to despair, that he's stronger than this. that he always will be]

[he reaches out and takes her hand, gently at first, before he uses it to pull her towards him so he can wrap her into a hug]

[ that's fucking gay. anyway, she obviously doesn't expect it to happen, with the way she freezes up completely when it initially happens --- then she relaxes and returns the hug. ]

[they do this a lot?? but Maya's one of the most comforting people in Akira's life right now. so he melts into the hug and just. . . stays like this, for a time that is far longer than what is decent. and then, he mumbles]

I won't.

I promise.

[ she stays quiet during this quiet hug time, giving him whatever time he needs, but then-- ]

You better not! I'm not limited to Mondays anymore, y'know, if I see you starting to get too mopey I'm gonna kick your butt!

[ it's even more ridiculous than usual because it's coming out in muffled huffs from his shoulder. ]

[and]

[he laughs, pulls away to grin at her, eyes twinkling behind his glasses]

Hm. Sounds like I better start shaping up then, huh? Maya Fey's boot camp sounds absolutely terrifying.

Oh, it is. So you better watch out! Tenko and I are watching you!

[ huffs more!! now he can see her puffed cheeks and it's extremely intimidating thanks. ]
