[later on that day, probably sometime near the afternoon, there is a knock on Rean's door. word spreads throughout the resort awfully quickly, didn't you know!]
[It's a struggle to get up, much less walk around, so he stays in his room much of the day. Well, it's probably ill-advised to move too much with the injuries he has, so he's okay with it, even if he'd prefer otherwise. So in a way, it's sort of a nice excuse to shift a bit when someone comes by the door, calling for him.
It takes a bit, but he opens the door, looking pale and slightly out of it from pain. Still, his eyes focus on Akira clearly enough as he stands at the doorway.]
[. . . there's no response. not immediately, as Akira eyes Rean up and down with a neutral expression, like he's sizing him up. like he realizes this encounter could be dangerous, considering the challenge he issued to the Jorogumo back during their first week here]
[. . .]
[his gaze flickers towards Rean's injury, the stub where the now-missing limb used to be. quietly, he pulls a vial of liquid from his pocket and holds it out to Rean to take]
[He's patient enough as Akira finishes giving him a once over, never turning his eyes away from the other. It's only when the vial is offered that his expression turns surprised as he looks at the clear glass and the liquid inside.
Honestly... his first thought is that it's poison, because right now it'd be pretty easy to kill him. But... in the end, he nods once and takes the vial, downing it all in one gulp.]
[as soon as Rean downs the liquid, he might feel. . . something weird? going on with the area where his limb was severed? kind of like something is growing from the severed flesh. Akira reaches out to take the bottle away from Rean, before turning it around to show him the label]
"Greetings! This is a Potion of Regrowth. If consumed, it will allow you to regrow any limbs you have lost via natural means. However, if you tell anyone the exact effects of this potion, it will turn into tap water and be rendered useless. Be careful, and have fun!"
He reflexively moves to grab at the stump, but his fingers stop about a centimeter away before he draws back and slowly lowers his hand back to his side. As tempting as it would be to check out what's going on with that arm, it's probably better to leave it for now.
When he turns back to Akira, he looks grateful.]
...Thanks. [He moves out of the doorway.] You wanna come in? I'll leave the door open.
[He'll probably end up unwrapping or loosening the bandages when it becomes apparent it's pretty fast because oops, having an arm burst through that also sounds painful. And awkward?!
But true to his word, he leaves the door as is and settles on his bed, putting some distance between them. Discourteous, perhaps, but he figures it's better than getting too close.]
Alright. I can't promise I'll have the answers for everything, but I'll do my best.
[Akira is still a bit tense, because. . . I mean. just a few weeks ago, he asked the Jorogumo to fight him. Rean obviously never took him up on that offer, but hey. one never knows]
I got a few answers from Cinque-- the Doppelganger-- but. . .
I want to ask the same questions of you. Why did you kill Granz-san and Inaba?
[It's honestly stranger how some of the others haven't been tensing up when they visited, so seeing this... well, it's kind of a novelty.
There's a pause as he gathers his thoughts. Probably best not to mince words here.]
Because I was hungry, and because it was part of the game. As for why them specifically... I have to admit to being concerned that Szayel could sniff us out with his senses. And Inaba was... well, I figured she had a role.
. . . why them? Why not me? The guy who outed the Barghest when they were possessing Flat. The guy who wanted to fight you way back during our first week here.
Something struck me about that second letter. There were some things we talked about, and in a small crowd like that, I'd think it'd be difficult to pick some of the finer details out. Although I won't lie and say it wasn't partially luck, too.
[The real question comes out though, huh.]
Well... there were a number of reasons. I saw the Barghest as an ally, but it's not like I held a grudge over them being outed; that's just the kind of game it is. And besides that... call it a hunch, but I found the way you guys were acting during the trial a little strange, especially with what Shirou had been saying. Either way though, it felt risky to go after you after that, especially with the way you were trying to provoke me during the first trial -- kind of like you had a trap in mind. The Barghest was pretty set on targeting you too, so I figured there wouldn't be any point in getting between that.
At this point, I think it makes more sense to work with rather than against you guys. If we're both trying to find the Outsider, then it'd go easier if we pooled our resources and information.
Besides, Doppelling already knows who I am, so it wouldn't be hard to pull the same thing she did on the Barghest if she disagrees with what I do.
...You remember the rules of the game, right? They say the mafia has to kill during the 'night'. And considering how I was shot for damaging resort property, I doubt we'd be exempt from punishment if we decided we weren't going to play anymore.
[Akira points out, voice even. he tries to remember that the Jorogumo-- the monsters-- are being strong-armed into this just as much as the rest of them are]
How do they plan on punishing those who don't participate in the game? Will the Lady do it all on her own?
That's how it seems. She shot all of us, even killing Atsushi herself. If that was for property damage alone, I doubt she'd be too lenient if we decide to ruin the game.
[early enough that Akira is out of bed, organizing the (very large) pile of knives on his nightstand. he blinks at the notebook and lets out a little huff]
It's my fault that Minato is dead. Even though I knew how important he was to you, I still ended up targeting him anyways. And while I don't expect an apology to make up for that, it's only right of me to do so.
week 4, sunday
Rean-san--
[. . .]
Jorogumo.
no subject
It takes a bit, but he opens the door, looking pale and slightly out of it from pain. Still, his eyes focus on Akira clearly enough as he stands at the doorway.]
...Hey. Did you want to talk?
no subject
[. . .]
[his gaze flickers towards Rean's injury, the stub where the now-missing limb used to be. quietly, he pulls a vial of liquid from his pocket and holds it out to Rean to take]
First. . . I want you to drink this.

[he exhales deeply]
Give it some time, and you'll be as good as new.

no subject
. . . sure.
I guess I'd like to talk to you, anyway.
[he has SO MANY QUESTIONS for the Jorogumo. and, with a nod, he steps into the room, posture slightly stiff as he slips his hands into his pockets]
no subject
But true to his word, he leaves the door as is and settles on his bed, putting some distance between them. Discourteous, perhaps, but he figures it's better than getting too close.]
Alright. I can't promise I'll have the answers for everything, but I'll do my best.
[Time for some Jorogumo Q&A.]

You were right. She did.
[Inquisitor, Akira thinks]
. . . why them? Why not me? The guy who outed the Barghest when they were possessing Flat. The guy who wanted to fight you way back during our first week here.

[h. . . ha. . .]
You were right. I was trying to trap you.
[but. the details of said trap is something he keeps to himself, even as his gaze flickers away]
I wish the Barghest would've come after me instead of Iwai. I hate that he got dragged into our feud.
no subject
[He's already outed himself, so regardless of what actually happens, it feels like he'll just get voted off anyways.]
For whatever it's worth, I'm sorry. I wish I had an answer for you, but...
[The Barghest is already dead, so.]
no subject
. . . I know. It's fine.
The Barghest is better off dead, but it seems like the Doppelganger is on our side.
Where do you fall on that spectrum?
no subject
At this point, I think it makes more sense to work with rather than against you guys. If we're both trying to find the Outsider, then it'd go easier if we pooled our resources and information.

[but only for a minute, because. . . well. here comes the million dollar question]
Are you still going to kill someone despite working with us?
no subject
...You remember the rules of the game, right? They say the mafia has to kill during the 'night'. And considering how I was shot for damaging resort property, I doubt we'd be exempt from punishment if we decided we weren't going to play anymore.

no subject
Damn it. . .
[clenching his hands into fists, ducking his head as he tries to shove his anger under wraps]
no subject
I think we're at the point where we should be trying to figure out why this game exists. If we do that... maybe we can find a way to stop all of this.
week 5, sunday morning
Hey, it's Rean. How are you doing after all that?
no subject
. . . I'm okay.
What brings you here so early in the morning?
no subject
I figured it was worth checking up on you considering how things went yesterday. But I also wanted to apologize, too.
no subject
Why?
[because as far as Akira is concerned? Rean isn't responsible for the actions the Jorogumo took]
no subject
So I'm sorry, Akira. For everything.
no subject
. . . you remember? You remember what happened while you were possessed by the Jorogumo?
