There's a tree called the 'Tree of Memories'. The leaves allow you to share memories with others more easily.

I already went there once. [and Futaba got to see...no he can save that for later. That's like a Rank 7 at least.] It's easier when someone else is there close by, since you can't completely control what memories you'll see.

A bit...like everything else it's influenced by emotions. [He must really feel Fuuka deserves it if he's willing to try it. That, or he's just Yu, the type to try everything around him (like grass in the fridge). He nods at the moral support comment.] You can stay farther away from me if you want, and just step in if you see me acting bizarrely.

[at any rate! he arrives at the Tree of Memories sometime after Yu, approaching with his head tilted back and his hands resting in his pockets. he opens his mouth to say something, when--]

Well...someone has to cover when Yosuke isn't around.

[From the sound of his voice, he sounds like it's someone Yu teases a lot.]

Alright...let's go.

[He takes a breath in silence, before taking a few more steps to close the gap, and reaches upwards to the closest branch, grabbing one of the petals. The memory plays out around them very briefly.]

Actually I'm no longer a hollow bear...

[Yu watches it play out, almost mesmerized, a small smile on his lips, right as the girls go off to find clothing for him. Yeap, that's the investigation team alright. He turned over to Akira, unsure if he'd been the only witness of it.]

Did you see that? Because that...might need a bit more explanation, right?

[Akira grins in amusement, but follows Yu as he steps forward towards the tree. his shoulders are squared, stance wary, if only because he has no fuckin' clue what this giant plant is capable of. at least he doesn't react when Yu grabs the petals and the memory swirls into being around them, live and in vivid color]

[when it's over, he's left blinking blandly at Yu as his brain tries to process what he just saw]

Teddie is a shadow that gained his own will...we didn't know at the time. But he grew himself a body after a battle with his shadow and gaining a Persona. [A shadow gaining a shadow.] We're still not sure how he did that. [The body, the shadow or the Persona? Who knows.]

[rubs the back of his head, a frown tugging down the corners of his mouth. heck if he knows the answer to that, although he has some theories, based on what he knows]

I have a friend who would be pretty jealous of his abilities to grow human bodies in the middle of bear suits.

[That's surprising, and it shows in his reaction.]

[Yu takes this information and for a few seconds, he goes quiet. Akira had talked about his cat but not the full information and the gears are turning in his head before he finally speaks.]

Oh! Your cat is a Persona user?

[While the logic might seem far-fetched, to Yu it makes sense. 1) Wants a human body 2) Koromaru is a dog, increasing such a possibility 3)For Akira to know his cat wants a human body, he'd have to be able to communicate in some way.]

[he grins, amused, and lets out a light laugh]

He's not a cat, actually. He might be one physically, but his story is-- complicated.

[and now that he thinks about it, they had only just learned the truth behind Morgana's existence before coming to Verens, huh?]

But he can wield a Persona, and he wants to be human.

I can understand complications... [They had to do tests with Teddie, after all, and it was only far later that he remembered he was a shadow at all.] I hope he can do the same. Maybe if they both end up here, Teddie can give him words of advice on what to do.

[Yu, this world would not survive with the both of them here. He turns back to the petals to grab another, hoping that he might end up with a better memory to share. Except not really...]

[As Chie whispers for him to hang on for a year, the vision fades and Yu frowns. Partly because it seems the memories seem to be jumping backwards instead of forward, partly since it was strange to see Morooka alive in all his uh...Morookaness.]

Ahhh...I don't think I should keep this one.

[At least it gave Akira a bit of information - that Yu was able to talk back and also that he apparently came from a 'big city'. Of Perverts.

[He quickly takes another of the petals. Maybe it's due to the last memory or his distraction, but briefly, he can feel his head hurting and winces. Then the vision begins to play...]

In a field of green, they awaken. Yu stares in silence as the scene plays before him...the strange guy next to him, and the mechanical voice speaking. "I'll protect you" he tells the other, as he gets mocked for his almost neutral reaction. Then the uneasy air about them as the portrait is presented in all its glory.

"Without someone like Junpei or your friend Yosuke joking around, this is kind of awkward..."

Part of him hopes it ends, the other wanting to see what goes on next. A cloud forms around them, dark and black, mimicking his confusion and worry. It ends just as he's about to open the door and...]

[He looks at Akira before his hand closes in on the petal. The cloud behind him echoes with sounds of thunder. Perhaps the most worrying thing to this vision is the end reaction to all of it. Yu seems to be, well, unusually upset.]

Who was that?! I don't remember this! But he mentioned Junpei-san...and did we...urgh!

[He clutches his head, almost dropping the petal, before tripping and falling over backwards.]

[honestly, if Yu's reaction had been anything else, Akira might have burst out into apologetic laughter at the content of the memory. but the storm cloud, the thunder, and the way his friend tumbles backwards is pretty concerning, and Akira reaches out with one hand to grab him tightly by the upper arm instead. worry is written in the furrows of his brow]

[The aid in regaining his footing is appreciated, but it barely does anything regarding the clouds around them.]

...I'm alright. [His hand is tightly around that petal like his life depended on it.] That memory... [Despite the comedic nature of it the worry on his brow is evident.] ...it had to be buried deep inside me.

[He looks towards another petal.]

If they where able to get it out of me then maybe...

[He thinks about Fuuta and the mysterious other teenager before concentrating. The memory moves around them like reliving a memory. Card soldiers are around them, and behind, a gigantic queen-like shadow monster. There's his team and two people he does not recognize, yet who seem so familiar.

They are outmatch and have to retreat, but there's no way for them to do that until...

"You should rest. We'll take these on!"

When the vision ends, there's no doubt about it.]

So I did meet Fuuka-san's group before. But why don't I remember it?

[his hand lingers on Yu's arm for a few extra seconds, before he lets it drop at his side. he's only partially paying attention to this memory, the other half of his focus still trained on his companion]

So you're saying. . . these are memories you don't remember?

Like-- memories lost to amnesia?

They must be lost for a reason...if neither Fuuka-san or Shinjiro-san remember them either...I wish I knew why.

[Why they met, why were they the same age, why something that monumental was reduced to near nothing in his mind.]

We fought something together too...although it was nice to see him there, since Elizabeth-san told me he's not...oh sorry.
